Alaska Travel Destinations

Alaska travel destinations are the stuff of dreams. In my case, my Alaska dream was to see the land of my birth. While I was born in Anchorage, my parents left when I was six weeks old, taking me with them naturally. So the only images I had of Alaska were a few black and white photos my mother took with her little Brownie camera.

When I was 27, my younger brother, who was in the Air Force and stationed in Fairbanks, paid for me to fly to Alaska. He was being transferred to the lower 48 and was going to be driving down the AlCan Highway; the same highway my parents had traveled down 27 years earlier.

I was in awe at the magnificient mountains, the wildly rushing streams and rivers and the wildlife. It was a marvelous trip, unfortunately I don't have any pictures to remind me of that wonderful journey. So one day, I'm going back. I'm going to see the modern, bustling city of Anchorage, take a cruise up the coast, watch a dogsled race and perhaps pan for a little gold.

Those are just a few of the Alaska travel destinations that immediately spring to mind. I'm sure as the time gets closer, I'll be investigating all the scenic, historic and natural vacation destinations.
