Venice Beach

Venice Beach in Venice, California is probably the most unique, entertaining and exciting beach to be found. This is one beach that is so much more than sand, surf and seagulls. One is more likely to see a bikini-clad Southern California beauty rolling along on rollerblades than to see waves rolling in to shore.

While Venice Beach does feature great expanses of white sand with sunbathers scattered along the shore, but the beach actually includes everything from the shore to the commercial and residential buildings along Ocean Front Walk.

Entertainment and activities abound on the beach, along the promenade and Venice Fishing Pier. From “Muscle Beach” with its iron-pumping hard bodies to the Skate Dancing plaza, the beach offers numerous opportunities for activity. There are paddle tennis course, volleyball courts and handball course. On can ride along the beach on the bike trail or just enjoy strolling along Ocean Front Walk.

During the summer the beach is filled with activity and entertainment, such as fortune-tellers, artists, mimes and other performers. During the winter things slow down during the week, but come the weekend the activity shifts into high gear again.

Even people who have never visited California are very familiar with images of Venice Beach. For years, both movies and television programs have broadcast images of the beach into theaters and homes across the world. Anyone who remembers watching Three’s Company would immediately recognize Venice Beach from the opening scenes from the first three seasons.
