Rome Vacation

Perhaps one of the best ways to enjoy a Rome vacation and ensure that you see all the sites is to do the tour route. These tours are well-planned and include the services of a qualified guide. Unless stated otherwise, the price of the tour does not include food and drink, tips and gratuities and costs for extra activities.

There are different types of tours that a perfectly planned tours many of which are “on and off” tours. These open bus tours allow you to hop off the bus at any point where you want to explore a bit more and then hop on another bus to continue the tour.

The Vatican Tour takes you to the smallest country in the world. There you can visit the Porta Pinciana, the Vatican Museums, the famous Sistine Chapel and St. Peter’s Basilica. These are half-day tours that run every day except Sunday, and cost around $84.

Imperial Rome is a daily three-hour tour of the most enduring and recognizable landmarks of the Roman Empire. The tour stops at the Colesseum, the Basilica of San Pietro, Capital Square, The Roman Forums, Piazza Venezia and the Temple Julius Caesar. There are also a stop at the Basilica Emilia, the Arch of Titus and the Holy Road.

The Naples and Pompeii Day Trip will run you about $165 and last about 14 hours. You leave Rome and set off to explore the ruins of Pompeii and the delights of Naples. In Naples you’ll see such historical attractions as the Royal Palace, the San Carlo Opera House and the Gallery of Umberto. In Pompeii, explore the city that was buried in the 79 A.D. volcanic eruption of Mt. Vesuvius.

Dinner and Music in Rome is a nighttime highlight of a romantic Rome vacation. View the beautiful architecture, fountains and piazza lit like diamonds against the velvety black of the Italian night. Make a wish at the famous Trevi Fountain before heading past the Piazza Venezia and the King Vittorio Emanuele monument. You’ll see Tiberina Island, Four Rivers Fountain, and Vatican City lit up like a jewel. Finally you’ll dine at a local restaurant, enjoy a complimentary local wine, all the while being entertained by romantic Italian songs performed by talented folk musicians.

There are a number of other specialized tours that will ensure you see all the sights and sites on your Rome vacation. Take a day for a tour of Florence, then another day in Umbria and the medieval towns of Assisi and Orvieto. The devout may want to time their Rome vacation to occur anytime other than summer so they can visit St. Peter’s Square for a Papal Blessing.
