Things to Do in Ohio

With over 50 state parks, amusement parks, rivers and museums, the things to do in Ohio are endless. Ohio has many metropolitan cities complete with dance companies, theaters and orchestras. Steeped in history the many historical areas, science museums and technology centers may prove that Ohio really does have it all.

Cincinnati & Museums

Located on the Ohio River the city of Cincinnati has museums of all kinds. The Police Museum, American Sign Museum and Union Terminal, a converted train station just to mention a few. With professional sports, the Cincinnati Art Museum and steamboat rides on the river, every family member will find something they enjoy while visiting this city on the river’s edge.

Cincinnati Zoo

The second oldest zoo in the United States is located in Cincinnati. The Cincinnati Zoo and Botanical Gardens provides both winter and summer programming. Baby animal exhibits, a butterfly garden and improved natural habitats has allowed this zoo help endangered species around the world. This zoo strives to help rare animal populations. It produced the first test tube gorilla in 1994.


Dayton is the home of Wright Patterson Air Force Base and the National Museum of the US Air Force. Smaller private museums include Wilber and Orville Wrights workshop and Dunbar House State Museum honoring the poet Paul Lawrence Dunbar. Both are open to the public.

Stillwater River

The Stillwater River runs close to Dayton. Canoe trips, kayaking and many bed and breakfasts line the scenic river ways. Modern hotels some with enclosed rooftop pools are waiting for you and your family.

Kings Island

Ohio has two nationally known amusement parks. Paramount Kings Island located near Mason, has thrill rides including a wooden roller coaster and a water park. Nickelodeon Universe a place where children can experience rides just for them is part of this park. Kids can visit with Dora the Explorer or enjoy a snack surrounded by their friends. Cedar Point

Cedar Point, located in Sandusky has a marina and a theme park. While visiting spend a day of fishing, soaring above the lake parasailing or spend the afternoon at Soak City Water Park. With pet friendly accommodations nearby, there is no need for any family member to be left behind.
